Abstract

The deep-benthic chondrichthyan fishes collected by 584 hauls of otter-trawl from the Okinawa Trough, Kyushu-Palau Ridge, Pacific continental slope off northern Honshu Island (“Tohoku Slope”) and continental slope of Okhotsk Sea off Hokkaido (“Okhotsk Slope”) were analyzed. Sixty-one species were recorded from 200 to 1,520 m in depths; 37 species from the Okinawa Trough, 10 from the Kyushu-Palau Ridge, 18 from the Tohoku Slope, and nine from the Okhotsk Slope.
