Abstract

The operation and control of multiphase induction motor drive under faulty condition is a big challenging task in the present day. For this, the direct torque control (DTC) technique has been proposed recently to a five-phase two-level (FPTL) inverter fed induction motor drive. However, FPTL inverter fed drive produce common mode voltage (CMV) and higher current THD. In this paper, the five-phase three-level (FPTHL)-NPC inverter fed induction motor drive DTC is presented with an open-phase fault using virtual vector (VV) based look-up table. The VVs are formed based on the vectors which will give zero CMV, and hence the proposed controller eliminates the CMV in FPIM. The validation of proposed DTC controller under open-phase fault is presented firstly through MATLAB/Simulink environment and then real-time OPAL-RT processor on hardware synchronized eFPGAsim.
