Abstract

This paper focuses on fault-tolerant control strategy for static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) based on Cascaded H-bridge multilevel converter (CHMC). Attention was drawn to the issue of converter reliability of fault operation by using H-bridge building block (HBBB) redundancy. The operation principle and control strategy of fault tolerance are discussed. The proposed fault-tolerant control strategy is implemented on a five cascaded H-bridge. Simulation result verifies the validity and effectiveness of the proposed fault tolerant control.
