Abstract

In this paper the combination of a functional approach and a hybrid concept for fault prevention in industrial automation systems is presented. The difference between fault prevention and fault diagnosis is the fact that fault prevention is the diagnosis while a system is still faultless but a fault is developing. Fault diagnosis can be a difficult and partially longsome process. That is why faults have to be avoided and fault development has to be diagnosed at an early stage. Sufficient fault prevention is a decisive research topic in industry and research institutes. Fault prevention is divided into several steps. First of all abnormities are identified and diagnosed. Then removal actions are generated in order to assist people. The goal of this fault prevention is the avoidance of faults and breakdowns in industrial automation systems during the run-time.
