Abstract

The accuracy of fault location of power cables is an important parameter index for evaluating power supply repair teams. However, in view of the problems that the wave reflection method is difficult to identify the reflected wave head in the power cable insulation fault location, there are specific restrictions on the length of the cable, and the requirement for professional experience is high. A method does not need to analyze the pulse waveform to locate the location of the fault point. It has the advantages of high automation and no need for manual intervention. Statistical test results show that the new fault location method can adapt to different power cable faults, and the fault location accuracy rate can reach within ± 20 ‰, which is better than the wave reflection method ± 25 ‰ fault location accuracy.
