Abstract

Abstract In this paper an on-line identification method for the machine parameters of AC drives is presented. It is shown that the circuit parameters stator resistance, main and leakage reactance can be deduced from the estimated parameters. The basis for the identification is the measurement of input impedance of the motor at different but unknown points of motor load. With the additional measurement of speed the rotor resistance can be determined, too. Furthermore, a sorting algorithm is presented which significantly improves the convergence behaviour of the parameters. The realization of a monitoring procedure is described and experimental results obtained from a centrifugal pump drive are given. The results show a good coincidence of model and measurement data, a reliable estimation of rotor resistance, main and leakage reactance. A heat-run demonstrates that the estimated rotor resistance is a good indicator for overheating.
