Abstract

The fault detection (FD) problem for T-S fuzzy systems with local nonlinear models is considered in this paper. Firstly, nonlinear systems are approximated by fuzzy systems with local nonlinear models. Then, an unknown input observer is established to diagnose the fault where the estimation error of local nonlinear model is decoupled. Secondly, an <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$L$</tex> ∞ / H <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">-</inf> performance index is considered in the design to increase robustness of the external disturbance and increase the sensitivity of the fault. Then, the synthesis conditions of the observer are obtained. Finally, a numerical example is given to show the efficacy of the developed FD scheme.
