Abstract

ABSTRACT To improve the reliability in detecting and isolating actuator and sensor faults, a fault detection and isolation (FDI) technique based on the optimal parity test is derived in this paper. Fault isolation is achieved by designing optimal parity vectors such that they are sensitive only to specific actuator and sensor faults. The definition of the generalized input fault vector is presented, and the geometric invariability of collinear vectors is also discussed. An simulation examples is presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed FDI technique.
