Abstract

Tow proposed methods are used to localize the fault in high voltage transmission line. The proposed methods use digital set of short circuit current and voltage measurements for estimating fault location for different fault types. In this paper, we stud the impact of the arc resistance on the fault location using these methods A practical case study is presented in this work to evaluate the proposed methods with results comparison and to evaluate the best mean to locate the fault. We will study the impact of the fault arc resistance on the error of the fault location, as well as the influence of the location on the error.
