Abstract

ABSTRACTThe fatty acid profiles of lipids extracted from groundnut (Apios americana Medikus) seeds and tubers were analyzed using gas‐liquid chromatography. Groundnut seeds contained 12.1–18.4% lipids and groundnut tubers 4.1–4.6%, on a dry weight basis. Fatty acid profiles of seed and tuber lipids differred; however, linoleic acid predominated. The fatty acid profiles of seeds and tubers varied between plants collected in two different locations, suggesting genetic variability.
