Abstract

1. 1. Analysis of triglycerides of the tree hyrax ( Dendrohyrax arboreus) showed that 79 per cent of the total palmitic acid was esterified to the secondary alcoholic group of the glycerol. 2. 2. This is unusual intramolecular disposition resembles that of elephant triglycerides and supports current taxonomic considerations that hyraxes and elephants are distantly related.
