Abstract

AbstractThe fatty acid composition of seed oil from Hibiscus ficulneus (Malvaceae) was analysed by thin‐layer and gas‐liquid chromatography. In addition to normal saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, three hydrogen bromide‐reactive fatty acids were also identified. These were shown to be epoxyoleic (4.9%), malvalic (4.2%), and sterculic (1.0%) acids. Seed oils of Vernonia anthelmintica and Sterculia foetida were used as reference standards.
