Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the quality of life of caregivers of elderly people with Alzheimer's dementia. An integrative literature review study was conducted using the secondary databases Virtual Health Library, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, Scientific Electronic Library Online and Online System for Search and Analysis of Medical Literature based on the specific descriptors retrieved in the Health Sciences Descriptors. The factors associated with the quality of life of caregivers of elderly people with Alzheimer's dementia were burden, functional decline and dependence of the elderly to perform activities of daily living, degree of dementia severity, longer time since diagnosis and living with the demented elderly, socioeconomic conditions, psychological stress and decline in social relationships, environment domain, psychological and physical. It is essential that care is also cared for, both from the point of view of health and in relation to public policies of social security and assistance.
