Abstract

In the present paper, the fatigue response of process-induced flaws is examined by employing a new computational model. The stress concentration effects of such surface flaws are analyzed through fracture-mechanics analytical and numerical models. Furthermore, experimental observations available in the literature are taken into account to verify the evaluations related to the residual life and crack path.
