Abstract

When steel plated structures are subjected to repeated stress cycles, they are to be designed for fatigue. Various fatigue tests with small or large scale test specimens are carried out, some of which are presented in the text as examples. Fatigue assessment procedures based on design S-N curves and fracture mechanics approach are demonstrated with examples.
