Abstract

In the last five years, towing to increasing demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG), researchers have actively analyzed and conducted studies on the sloshing phenomenon. However, there are limitations in the 1:1 model experimental method for LNG tanks installed in actual vessels. This study verified the validity of the average pressure prediction according to the scale ratio of a prismatic LNG tank that was developed through a correlation analysis between the sloshing analysis and model test. We then presented an average pressure prediction for the tank of a full-scale vessel. In addition, to ensure the safety of the tank, this study investigated the degree of cumulative fatigue damage that could be caused by cyclic loading through a fatigue analysis.
