Abstract

The fatigue failure criterion for the adhesively bonded anchorage system for CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer) tendon has been investigated in this study. A closed-form shear stress solution was deduced for the static performance of the anchorage system, based on which the fatigue failure criterion was discussed and an analytical model was presented to judge the safety of the anchorage system under fatigue loading by using CLD (Constant Life Diagram) method. The results show that the Smith criterion is suitable for the analysis of fatigue failure occurred in the adhesively bonded anchorage system while the Goodman criterion may lead to risk. The stress concentration caused by manufacturing defects in the adhesively bonded anchorage system influences the occurrence of the fatigue failure and should be considered into the fatigue failure.
