Abstract

The effect of environment on the fatigue life, crack initiation and propagation have been a subject of extensive investigations and numerous discussions for a long time. The purpose of the present work is to examine the environmental effect on fatigue crack propagation in copper compact tension (CT) specimens which allow them to control the crack initiation site and to observe crack growth on a relatively large area. A special attention is given to the crack propagation behavior and to the crack growth rate.
