Abstract

The fatigue life of the annealed low-carbon stainless steel cold-sprayed coating was measured with a servohydraulic mechanical testing machine and compared with that of bulk stainless steel. The fatigue resistance in the annealed cold-sprayed coating was lower than the bulk resistance. Fractography of cold-sprayed coatings after annealing at 1100°CC and bulk specimen was also used to analyze the fatigue behavior. The poor fatigue resistance was related to incomplete particle–particle bonding.
