Abstract
We know from the start that Fatenah does not make it through the film. She dies from breast cancer. But that is just the final cause. She dies because her doctors are inept: “that is all from the bra, just loosen it a little bit”, advises one, “these things disappear with marriage, don't worry”, soothes another. “It's just a small benign tumour, it will go away by itself”, a third assures her. She dies because the soldiers at the checkpoint will not let her cross into Israel to attend the hospital where she can get the care that she is entitled to. She dies because her local hospital does not have a constant supply of chemotherapy (it does not even have a constant supply of electricity). Fatenah dies because she falls ill and she lives in Gaza.
