Abstract

CARBAMAZEPINE, a tricyclic compound similar to imipramine, is currently being used with increasing frequency to manage patients with seizures poorly controlled by traditional therapeutic agents? Previous reports of hepatoxicity have shown only transient elevations o f serum alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin, and transaminase concentrations.'-', ~ We report here a death from hepatic failure associated with carbamazepine therapy.
