Abstract

This zine gives a look into what it is like being a fat person in academia. Currently, many conversations are being had in regards to oppressed identities, but it seems that body size is still one that many do not care to consider. Being fat in the academe is to not only be figuratively unwanted, but also literally. Desks are not meant to accommodate larger bodied students and traveling for conferences to enhance the academic experience can sometimes be impossible. Microagressions are constant and representations of fatness are rarely considered. In order to discuss inclusivity and diversity of our students, we must also consider body size in that conversation. This zine also provides ways we can encourage body liberation as well as supporting our fat students.
