Abstract

Pulse Code Modulation (PCW format is the most frequently used for Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) computation. The restriction of the use of PCM format in DCT algorithms are time-consuming multi-bit multiplications. They often limit the appropriate realization system or specialized processors which work in real time. One of the ways of eliminating multiplications is changing them into fast bits shifts operations using Modified Differential Pulse Code Modulation (MDPCM). However, this format does not ensure all quantization steps from the set of natural numbers that decreases the processing resolution. Alternative way to increase fast-acting of the algorithms with simultaneous high resolutions ensuring is using synthetic codes as PCM (SPCM) as DPCM (SDPCM) which are created by some MDPCM codes. The resolution improvement of DCT algorithms in differential formats can be obtained by partial zeroing of DCT coefficients. The aim of this work is working out fast and accurate DCT algorithms without multiplications and improving resolution of DCT spectrum for differential formats.
