Abstract

This article discusses a new technique for testing water samples for the presence of radium that has been developed at Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) in Atlanta, Georgia. The article provides regulatory/compliance information and maximum contaminant levels for radium, along with human health effects from radium consumption. The new, two‐step method is discussed, and an explanation of the process is provided, along with previous methods approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for radium detection.
