Abstract

Laser beam steering is crucial in numerous applications such as military targeting and surveillance, space communication, optical data storages and various other medical applications. It is always a challenging task for researchers and industry personnel to obtain high accuracy of laser beam pointing in presence of various internal and external disturbances. It is observed in the last few decades that incorporation of Fast steering mirror in target tracking and pointing systems offers a highly advantageous combination of minimum jitter and optimized system performance. This paper presents a detailed literature review on various aspects of laser beam pointing and stabilization using a fast steering mirror.
