Abstract
We use the symmetric formulation of boundary integral equations to solve mixed boundary value problems based on a Galerkin discretization. This leads to a skew-symmetric and positive definite system of linear equations, which may be solved via iterative schemes. Toeplitz type preconditioners are used to bound the spectral condition number of the discrete system. Numerical examples confirm the theoretical results.
