Abstract

After first outlining the principles of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and reviewing the main features of the ICL Distributed Array Processor (DAP), efficient DAP algorithms are described for fast azithmuth correlation of range compressed SAR signals. Range migration correction and speckle reduction by multilook processing are considered. Typical timing results are presented for correlation of simulated SAR signals from SEASAT and ERS-1 systems using 24-bit floating point arithmetic.
