Abstract
A fast electro-optical switching in polymer waveguide has been demonstrated using ferroelectric liquid crystal. In this device, the surface stabilized ferroelectric liquid crystal layer is used as the active material with the passive polymer waveguide. The switching time is of the order of several microseconds.
