Abstract

Sulvanite (Cu 3VS 4) presents a number of anomalous electrical properties : non linear hysteretic transport and the property of being irreversibly modified by the passage of a d.c. current. It is shown that these properties are due to the presence in a p-type semiconductor of a small number of highly mobile ions. This mixed conductivity makes sulvanite a good candidate for ion intercalation.
