Abstract

Free-viewpoint video (FVV) system is a new kind of multimedia in the coming future. Intermediate image rendering plays an important role in FVV system and needs to be solved. So far, the intermediate image rendering methods are not suitable for real-time FVV due to the computational complexity. This paper presents a temporal correlation based intermediate image rendering method to accelerate the processing speed. Motion information is applied for fast rendering method. Experimental results show that the proposed method can render intermediate image quicker than other methods including block based hierarchical algorithm and rational block based hierarchical algorithm. Furthermore, the proposed method is useful to fulfill the real-time requirement in FVV.
