Abstract

The use of the Legendre orthogonal polynomials provides a significant improvement in the robustness and simplicity of the Galerkin series expansion methods for the solution of the classical Nusselt integral equations. These equations describe the steady state temperature behaviour of a thermal regenerator. A novel, economical method is offered for Galerkin techniques for the non-symmetric case.
