Abstract

A fast beamforming method for large irregular arrays is proposed in this paper. The number of elements of spaceborne phased array is usually very large, which contains thousands of elements. Moreover, the demand for special beamforming of spaceborne large-scale phased array is also increasing. On the other hand, in order to reduce the number of array elements due to the complexity of equipment, sparse array or irregular array is usually used. The fast calculation of special beamforming for large-scale irregular arrays is an urgent problem to be solved. In this paper, the transmitting and receiving beams of a typical irregular array (512 elements) are designed respectively. Different beamforming schemes are adopted in different scenarios, and the amplitude and phase weights of each array element are solved quickly and accurately, so as to provide a solution for fast beamforming of large-scale irregular array.
