Abstract

A fast algorithm based on electric integral equation (EFIE) is developed for broadband electromagnetic scattering from metallic objects. This algorithm is integrated with reduced basis method (RBM), and accelerated by the multilevel fast multip ole algorithm (MLFMA) and the multilevel accelerated Cartesian expansion (MLACE). Benefitting from MLFMA and MLACE, the computational cost, i.e., memory requirements and computational time can be reduced significantly. With the help of RBM, a fast RCS computation over a wide frequency band can be achieved. In comparison with the traditional fast algorithm, our approach produces much less computational cost for the same solution accuracy. Moreover, its validity and efficiency are demonstrated by the numerical results provided in this paper.
