Abstract

In this paper we explore the lunar influence on woman menstral cycle. The data have been provided by the Catholic Marriage Advisory Council Centre and concern 36641 cycles (belonging to 1798 women). For our purpose we considered only cycles with a length similar to the lunar cycle. i.e. between 28 and 31 days. The cycles have been further filtered to clean out autocorrelation effects and have successively been classified according to the recordered month of menses onset. The analysis of the variable distance of the beginning of menstruation from the new moon through non parametric density estimate lead us to exclude a lunar influence on menstrual cycle.
