Abstract

Farmers' adoption of improved soil conservation practices in the rain forest zone of southeastern Nigeria was examined in this study. Data was collected from 160 farmers with the aid of questionnaire and interview schedule. Data collected were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The soil conservation practices identified include organic manure, cover cropping mulching, strip cropping and zero tillage. Significant relationship was found to exist between personal characteristics of farmers such as farming status, education level, farm size, farming experience, extension contact, information source, and adoption of soil conservation practices.
