Abstract

OVER 250 members and guests, representing agriculture, science, and industry, met for the eleventh annual conference of the Farm Chemurgic Council at the Hotel Statler in St. Louis, March 18 through 20, to re-evaluate the progress of chemurgy and to reaffirm their faith in this movement which has the objective of increasing farm income through the industrial utilization of farm products. and Peace Striking a keynote for the conference with his opening address Science and Peace, at the luncheon Monday noon, President Wheeler McMillen, editor of The Farm Journal, contrasted the achievements of science with the failures of statesmanship as evidenced by recurring wars. After examining the methods of each, Mr. McMillen concluded that science has conquered hunger while statesmanship has not.
