Abstract

In biological control studies, production of natural enemies are very important as known. Trissolcus species are the most effective natural enemy of sunn pest which is the main harmful of wheat. The suitable alternative host ofthe egg parasitoids Trissolcus semistriatus Nees (Hym.: Scelionidae) of sunn pest for production in laboratory condition was determined and storage of host eggs opportunities was investigated in 2002-2003 in this study. Eight Pentatomidae species ( Codophila varia Fabricius, Dolycoris baccarum L., Eurydema b landum Horvath, Eurydema oleraceum L, Eurydema ornatum L., Eurydema ventrale Kolenati, Graphosoma lineatum L. and Graphasoma semipunctatum F.) were collected from cereal fields and weeds from Ankara, Aksaray, Cankiri and Eskisehir provinces. These species were reared in climate chamber of 16:8 photoperiod, at 25±1 oC temperature and %65±5 humudity and were fed with weeds, soybeans, tobacco seeds, peanuts and sunflower seeds for producing their eggs. Daily eggs of Pentatomidae species were stored during 1-12 months in -80°C deep-freezer. Experiment was set up as ten repetitions for each storage durition and it was admitted that about 14 number eggs is present in each egg package. Pentatomidae egg packages which were taken one-month intervals from deep-freezer were put into tubes. Daily one female and one male parasitoid were given into tubes and parasitoids were hold in two days for parasiting. According to storage durations; the ratios of parasitism, hatching and sexual and development durations of T. semistriatus were fixed. the best results were taken from G. lineatum eggs in terms of these parameters. Parasitoid was not developed in all of storage durations, only except 3 months storege in E. ventrale eggs. Also parasitoid was not developed in E. blandum eggs stored 5-12 months. Biological parametres showed differances according to the storage durations in other Pentatomidae species. Consequentl; it was determined that the best suitable host for the production of T. semistriatus in laboratory was G. lineatum
