Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the transluceny and masking properties of different composite resins. Material and Methods: In this study, eight different composite materials were used and 10 samples of each material were prepared using stainless steel mold (8x2 mm). Translucency parameters of samples were determined by making measurements on the black and white backgrounds. Masking effect was calculated on the basis of the color difference between the specimen on a black background and black background itself. Data were analyzed by One-Way ANOVA and Tukey test. The correlation analysis (Pearson's Correlation Analysis) was used to examine the correlation between the translucency parameters and masking effect. Statistically significant level was based on p 0.05). Conclusion: When choice of restorative material was done during clinical application, not only the color of the restorative material but also translucency and masking feature should be took into account for obtaining the aesthetic which was similar to the restorated tooth.
