Abstract

By decision of the incoming editor of Kidney International, the “Nephrology Forum” will be discontinued as of January 2006. Therefore, this December 2005 installment represents the feature's swan song, marking the end of an extraordinary run of 28 years. During this span, the Forum took on a wide range of topics, ranging from acid-base to xenotransplantation. Its principal discussants, drawn from over 35 countries around the world, represented the pinnacle of international nephrology and taught generations of nephrologists.
