Abstract
The Faraday effect due to the interband magneto-optical transitions in germanium is calculated. The direct transitions from the uppermost Landau levels of the two light hole ladders and two heavy hole ladders are considered. The magnitude of the effect depends sensitively on the effective masses of the levels in the presence of the magnetic field.
