M. Abstract This paper describes new features in the beryllium and magnesium absorption spectra from 2000 to 500 A. The observations have been made using two 3-electrode vacuum sparks, one serving as a back- ground source, the other as a source of the absorbing metallic vapor. New auto-ionized line series have been identified and associated with transitions from the ground state to two-electron excitation states.
