Abstract
Far infrared absorption study of the BiFeO3 perovskite system has been carried out using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. The room temperature phonon spectrum has been discussed and a total of 10 infrared active modes have been assigned. The effect of systematic cobalt doping at iron site on the infrared spectrum has also been elucidated.
