Abstract

Fans of the hit TV series Game of Thrones – an adaptation of George R R Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novels – love to guess what is coming next. But statistician Richard Vale from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand has taken such predictions one step further by using Bayesian statistics – a method to deduce the probability of future events – to predict what will happen in the upcoming books.
