Abstract
Themes of blood, passion, night, anality, and homosexuality are explored in the writings of the Japanese novelist Yukio Mishima, who committed ritual suicide in 1970. The writings of Sigmund Freud, W. R. D. Fairbairn, Harry Stack Sullivan, and David Bakan inform the psychological interpretation.
