Abstract

Flying ad hoc network or FANET is latest technology that has been proposed for military civilian purpose, surveillance and monitoring of that areas where the human cannot reach. Basically, FANET is a form of UAVs (Unmanned Ariel Vehicle) flying in the sky. Small bunch of UAVs forms networks called ad hoc networks. FANETs are extension of mobile ad hoc network (MANET) or vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) with inbuilt sensors, cameras, transmitters, receivers etc. It works on those areas where MANET or VANET cannot reach. In such scenarios, it is difficult to implement FANETs because of the rapid change in topology, high mobility, and poor visibility In this paper, a focus on latest trends and current challenges in the application of FANET such as unfavorable weather conditions “smoke or fog” and some other natural disaster has been given. This paper also highlighting the fact that how the networks get established between the FANET nodes, by assuming network the communication between the nodes should not break or get distorted under any extreme situations like mountains, walls or buildings.
