Abstract

Abstract This chapter describes the association between famine, population growth and the Cold War and the apparent conquest of famine by the green revolution. Vegetarianism as a potential solution to world hunger, the inequality in food distribution, and food wastes are discussed. The ecological and social causes of famine, the influence of climate change on rising food prices, modelling of climate change and famine, and the effects of climate change on fisheries are described. Possible solutions are discussed.
