Abstract

The maintenance obligation is generally considered as one of the main vehicles of materialization of solidarity between ex-spouses. Our analysis is focused on Portuguese law and is based on the reform that took place at the end of 2008. Finally, we reflect on the potential of the autonomous compensatory obligation enhanced by this reform of the Portuguese Family Law.
