Abstract

Family-centered care (FCC) has been upheld as the standard for providing quality health care for children. However, some professionals question its applicability in the critical care setting. Despite the barriers to FCC, ACCH's eight essential elements of FCC can provide the basis for devising strategies for successfully implementing FCC in the critical care setting.
