This is the sort of book that teachers without any background in sociology or administration could read. However, I wonder if perhaps a little hasn't been lost in the process. The references are not recent, the theorizing is not strong, and the discussion of alternatives purposely vague. The evidence is supposed to make the case that students streamed to the bottom
