Abstract
Sepsis is the immune system’s overreaction to an infection, which can lead to organ failure if it is not treated swiftly – and is a major cause of death worldwide. In the UK, sepsis kills 52,000 people annually and missed opportunities to assess, diagnose and treat symptoms early can have dire consequences.
